Sameyani Onesmo
Sameyani Onesmo, a nutritionist in our NGO, enhances the health of children with cerebral palsy by creating tailored nutrition plans, promoting proper feeding practices, and supporting growth. Collaborating with caregivers and teams, he integrates nutrition into care plans, improving overall well-being and quality of life for children and their families.

Renatus Aloyce
Renatus Aloyce, an occupational therapist, specializes in helping children with disabilities achieve independence through motor skill, cognitive, and mobility interventions. Certified in clubfoot treatment and serving as a supervisor with MDH, he collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and provide effective, consistent care in the Southern Highlands.

Mgimba
Mgimba, a counselor/psychologist, supports the mental health of individuals and families affected by cerebral palsy through assessments, counseling, and education. He addresses challenges like stress, anxiety, and depression, promotes resilience, and reduces stigma. Collaborating with teams, he ensures holistic care through individual and group sessions, enhancing emotional well-being.

Lucy Mrema
Lucy Mrema, a dedicated medical doctor, focuses on providing comprehensive healthcare for children and individuals with disabilities. With expertise in patient care, she collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to enhance health outcomes and offer essential support to families, ensuring holistic and compassionate medical care for those in need.

Volunteer Manual

- Mother Love Physiotherapy Centre – Provides rehabilitation services for children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
- Education Centre for Autism, ADHD, and Disabled Children – Ensures inclusive learning opportunities for children with special needs.
- Medical Outreach Program – Delivers free medical services, screening, and treatment to rural communities.
- Sewing & Batik-Making Project – Empowers mothers of children with disabilities by providing skills training and livelihood opportunities.
- Shamba Darasa (Farming & Gardening Program) – Promotes food security and income generation for families.
- Protection from Abuse Initiative – Raises awareness and educates communities on child protection and abuse prevention.
Our programs are based in Mbeya, Tanzania, and extend to rural communities where medical outreach and rehabilitation services are needed most. Volunteers may also work in nearby villages and schools, depending on the program’s requirements.
A basic understanding of English is required, but fluency is not mandatory. Volunteers should be open to learning and working with translators where necessary.
- Airfare: ~$1,000 (varies by departure location)
- Volunteer Visa: ~$250
- Accommodation: Options range from budget hostels to hotels
- Transport: Local travel to Mbeya and within project locations
- Personal expenses: SIM card, internet, sightseeing, shopping
- Food (breakfast, lunch, and snacks) will be provided at the MLCPF base at no cost.
The minimum recommended duration is two weeks to allow volunteers to adjust and contribute meaningfully. The maximum duration depends on visa regulations, but stays beyond two months may require a visa category change.
- Providing therapy and rehabilitation care (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy.
- Training caregivers and local professionals on therapy techniques and disability care.
- Assisting in medical outreach programs, conducting health screenings, and providing treatment
- Teaching at the Education Centre for children with disabilities
- Helping with the sewing and batik-making project by training mothers in vocational skills
- Engaging in community education programs on child protection and healthcare
- Participating in sports and recreational activities for children
- Conducting home visits to support families in need
- Pre-arrival orientation to help you prepare for your stay
- Guidance on travel arrangements and accommodations
- On-ground support to assist with cultural adaptation and program involvement
